Heating People guidance & services

Gas boiler safety & maintenance.

Keep boiler maintenance and safety concerns separate from everyday adjustments to heating controls. Tell us about any change in operation and choose the visit that matches the issue.

Maintenance and manufacturer instructions

Arrange regular maintenance by an appropriately qualified Gas Safe registered engineer, following the appliance instructions. A routine service is maintenance; it is not automatically the same as a landlord gas safety check.

Keep the instructions and previous service reports available. Report faults when booking so they can be reviewed before a routine service is agreed.

Access, ventilation and flues

Do not block ventilation or interfere with a boiler flue. Tell the engineer about building work or changes near the boiler or flue, and about concealed sections or shared arrangements.

If inspection requires access that is not available, the engineer explains the limitation and next steps. Do not remove boiler casing or attempt gas repairs yourself.

Report a fault when booking

Describe what happens, when it started and any fault code displayed. Photos of the controls or display can help identify the appliance without disturbing it.

A diagnostic visit is £92.50 for the first 45 minutes. Minor adjustments may be possible; parts and further work are separate. If there is a safety concern, explain it immediately rather than waiting for a routine service.

Rented property and carbon monoxide alarms

Landlords should arrange the relevant gas safety check as well as maintenance. A CO alarm is an additional precaution and does not replace checking or maintaining gas appliances. Follow the alarm instructions and official guidance if it activates.

For the landlord check, £92.50 covers up to two appliances. Extra appliances are £22.50 each; gas fires are always charged separately. Request servicing separately if required.

Arrange the right visit

Send the full address and postcode, appliance make and model if known, the reason for the visit and access details. Heating People operates from Leyton; the job location, scope and availability are reviewed before a visit is agreed.

Heating People confirms the price before issuing a quote or invoice for advance payment. Once you have paid, your booking is confirmed. A two-hour arrival window can be confirmed on the day.

Where required, parking is charged at £10 per hour. Key collection is £15, or £30 for collection and return. Tell us about these requirements before the price is confirmed.
